Synchrony in directed connectomes

چکیده

Abstract Synchronisation plays a fundamental role in variety of physiological functions, such as visual perception, cognitive function, sleep and arousal. The precise the interplay between local dynamics directed cortical topology on propensity for structures to synchronise, however, remains poorly understood. Here, we study impact that network has synchronisation properties brain by considering range species parcellations, including cortex cat Macaque monkey, well nervous system C. elegans round worm. We deploy Kuramoto phase model simulate neural aforementioned connectomes, investigate extent which directionality influences distributed patterns synchrony. In particular, find induces both slower speeds more robust locking presence delays. Moreover, contrast large-scale recently observed relations resting state structure appear break down invertebrate networks connectome, thus suggesting variations at different scales can significantly Our results suggest key shaping moreover its exclusion risks simplifying activation potentially significant way.

High-Resolution Directed Human Connectomes and the Consensus Connectome Dynamics

Here we show a method of directing the edges of the connectomes, prepared from diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) datasets from the human brain. Before the present work, no high-definition directed braingraphs (or connectomes) were published, because the tractography methods in use are not capable of assigning directions to the neural tracts discovered. Previous work on the functional connectomes a...

Cartography and Connectomes

The past 25 years have seen great progress in parcellating the cerebral cortex into a mosaic of many distinct areas in mice, monkeys, and humans. Quantitative studies of interareal connectivity have revealed unexpectedly many pathways and a wide range of connection strengths in mouse and macaque cortex. In humans, advances in analyzing "structural" and "functional" connectivity using powerful b...

Prefrontally driven downregulation of neural synchrony mediates goal-directed forgetting.

Neural synchronization between distant cell assemblies is crucial for the formation of new memories. To date, however, it remains unclear whether higher-order brain regions can adaptively regulate neural synchrony to control memory processing in humans. We explored this question in two experiments using a voluntary forgetting task. In the first experiment, we simultaneously recorded electroence...

Small Worldness in Dense and Weighted Connectomes

The human brain is a heterogeneous network of connected functional regions; however, most brain network studies assume that all brain connections can be described in a framework of binary connections. The brain is a complex structure of white matter tracts connected by a wide range of tract sizes, which suggests a broad range of connection strengths. Therefore, the assumption that the connectio...

Directed domination in oriented hypergraphs

ErdH{o}s [On Sch"utte problem, Math. Gaz. 47 (1963)] proved that every tournament on $n$ vertices has a directed dominating set of at most $log (n+1)$ vertices, where $log$ is the logarithm to base $2$. He also showed that there is a tournament on $n$ vertices with no directed domination set of cardinality less than $log n - 2 log log n + 1$. This notion of directed domination number has been g...
